The Gender and ICTs Network members are individuals and organizations active to promote gender equality in the ICTs sector. The network work in partnership with actors from the public, private, national and international sectors, engaged in cooperation for development.
It aims to promote and facilitate, in coordination with national actors and international partners, the local appropriation of and participation in decision-making processes in the ICTs sector, with a gender equality perspective:
- Promoting women's organizations and civil society capacities and gender & ICTs expertise, and facilitating their concerted action.
- Advocating for the inclusion of gender relations and civil society's perspectives in the formulation and implementation of ICT policies.
- Participating in the consulting and advising of information, communication and regulatory bodies.

Initiated in November, 2002, as a follow-up of the Workshop "Gender dimensions of ICT policies in Senegal" (organized by ENDA, ART and OSIRIS with the support of World Association for Christian Communication, WACC) the Gender and ICTs Network (regentic) aims at promoting dialogue among women's organizations, civil society and actors in the ICT sector, to foster gender equality, peace and development in the local, African, and global Information Society.

Activities :
"Advocating for Gender in ICT policies" "
Producing an advocacy document, in several formats, styles and language, about the need to include gender perspective in the formulation and the implementation of ICT policies, in order to bridge the gender digital divide and to promote ICTs as a development tool for all. Two training workshops will be organized, for media professionals and public, private, civil society and women's organizations decision-makers; public information of the global community through the Internet. Evaluation and follow-up planning activities.
(Project status : fundraising)"The Gender Digital Divide in francophone Africa : Data and indicators"
Research and training action : Producing a set of quantitative and qualitative data and indicators to evaluate the gender digital divide in Senegal and francophone Africa, in order to allow decision-makers in the ICT sector to formulate policies for greater gender equity. Documentation and field research, implemented by a sub-regional Gender and ICT Research Network to be set up during the activity, with a proposed political strategy presented to the political actors. Public information, assessment and follow-up planning.

Content production, training course internship and networking program for francophone African young communication professionals, implemented in partnership with professional communication training centers and local medias. Improvement of professional capacities in ICT utilization and ICT policies, around gender universal service issues. Content production through internship certification, network building of sub-regional communicators for the democratic access to ICTs.

Promoting free software utilization and production by francophone African women and for sustainable development. Two training workshops, one on free software utilization and gender analysis of the free software movement for representatives of women's organizations using ICTs and young women professionals in informatics. The second one to train young women professionals in informatics to free software development. Sub-regional support and research networking on gender perspectives in the free software movement, to act in synergy with the similar initiatives organized in the context of the WSIS. Final assessment and planning for sub-regional extension .

Sub-regional consultation among women organizations, civil society and actors in the ICT sector, organized in the process of the World Summit on Information Society, and in partnership with the regional and global "Gender and ICTs" networks.
